Waves is the world’s leading developer of audio plugins and signal processors for the professional and consumer electronics audio markets. Heard on hit records, major motion pictures, and popular video games worldwide, Waves’ cutting-edge software plugins and hardware processors are used in every aspect of audio production, from tracking to mixing to mastering, broadcast, live sound, and more.

Waves offers Native and SoundGrid audio plugins in VST, TDM, RTAS, and AU formats for Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton and other popular hosts.

Waves began in October 1992 with the introduction of the first audio plugin, the Q10 Paragraphic equaliser. The Q10 was the debut of the audio signal processor plugin, a tool commonly used today.

Another highlight of Waves’ first decade of success was the development of the L1 Ultramximizer™ plugin, which established a new benchmark for dynamic controls. Still considered innovative over a decade later, countless L1s are an integral part of studios all over the world. Propelled by an increasingly comprehensive product line, Waves quickly became a favourite of engineers worldwide and the choice of recognised audio masters.

Company founders Gilad Keren and Meir Shaashua share music as their first love. Waves has grown into the world’s leading developer and supplier of software-based audio plugin tools, while expanding to meet the demand for Waves processing in hardware-based products. Waves’ current product line has increased to over 60 processors that have been embraced by the audio industry in music production, film, post, and broadcast. In fact, the name Waves itself has become synonymous with top-of-the-line audio processing, and the company’s products are used where superior quality is a pre-requisite: hit records, major motion pictures, and top-selling games worldwide.

Gilad remembers Waves’ modest beginnings. He notes, “In the early days, a lot of people thought software would be a toy compared to hardware! But now, our plugins often replace multiple hardware boxes.”

The Waves mission is to develop and provide solutions that enable unparalleled sonic quality for all audio applications. Underscoring this achievement, Waves award-winning audio processor plugins are now the standard technology for thousands of audio professionals in content creation. These plugins utilise Waves’ proprietary DSP algorithms based on their psycho-acoustic expertise. Psycho-acoustics is the study of the perception of sound.

Here at Store DJ we understand the workings and range of Waves products and are here ready to discuss or show you through their range of plug-ins to help find the right solution for your studio needs. JJP Bass

Jack Joseph Puig on JJP Bass: “Every track is different. And every bass track is different. Sometimes you want just a great bottom; other times you want something with more mid-range that cuts through a mix. You may want to give it a bit of distortion, give it an edge. Or you’ll want to shape the sound with some nice bell EQs, use some compression and gate to lock it with the kick drum. I could even see someone using this plugin on the drums of a hip hop track as a sub enhancer, to give it some attitude. JJP Bass is a plugin that could be used in any situation.”

J37 Tape

Waves and Abbey Road Studios present the J37 tape saturation plugin, a precision model of the very machine used to record many of the greatest masterpieces in modern music. With a variety of user-adjustable controls including Tape Speed, Bias, Noise, Saturation, Wow and Flutter, the Waves: Abbey Road J37 faithfully recreates the inimitable sonic signature of the original machine. In addition to the J37 itself, three exclusive oxide tape formulas have been modeled. Specially developed by EMI during the ‘60s and ‘70s, each formula has its own unique frequency response and harmonic distortion behavior. In order to push the envelope even further, a comprehensive Tape Delay unit has been added to complement those warm tones.

IR-Live Convolution Reverb

H-Reverb Hybrid Reverb

New technologies open new creative horizons. H-Reverb is a pioneering FIR reverb based on innovative Finite Impulse Response reverberation technology, providing richer, deeper reverb tails that sit beautifully in the mix while breathing crisp air into your tracks. The FIR engine that powers H-Reverb lets you shape and customize the reverb decay envelope beyond the standard linear forms, resulting in perfectly gated, real reverse, and dense reverb tails that don’t muddy up the mix. Taking things one step further, H-Reverb incorporates Waves’ advanced analog modeling along with a drive control, offering signal behavior that until now was found exclusively in high-end hardware reverb devices.
